In Most Wanted, the entire city of Fairhaven is open from the beginning. Find a car, and it's yours to cause mayhem in. 

We recently presented a snippet of gameplay from Most Wanted that will hopefully explain a little about what we mean when we say that freedom, friends and competition are at the heart of the Most Wanted experience.

The video kicks off with our player in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. The Vantage is refined, elegant and sophisticated: a gentleman among exotics.

But this is not the stock Vantage. This is the V12 - a 510 horsepower monster that’ll do 0-62 in 4.2 seconds and hit 190 mph in a straight line. It’s Bond on steroids.

The sequence starts with the player taking the car for a quick spin through our open world city of Fairhaven. You can cruise around, hit jumps, explore buildings, rip past speed cameras. You can pretty much drive anywhere.

The eagle-eyed among you will notice cars parked all over town. We’re tired of playing a game for hours to unlock our favourite car, so we’ve placed almost all the cars in the game throughout the open world. If you can see it, you can drive it. Drive over to any car and “jack” it.

And in this instance, we’ve stumbled across Mercedes-Benz’ incredible SL 65 AMG Black Series. Each car has a unique set of events for you to play. You can tackle them in any order, but you might want to check their difficulty in Autolog before taking them on. Some events will seriously test you in an unmodified car.

Earn Speed Points by playing any part of the game (single-player or multiplayer) to rank up, move up the Most Wanted list and unlock Modifications for your car, that will help you beat our most challenging events.

When you’re ready to play, you can either jump to a event start or set a waypoint. This gives you a chance to explore the city or road-test modifications as you go. You can see the Mercedes' modifcations listed to the right of the screen, when you select the car.

As the race plays out, you'll see how Autolog transforms your open world driving experience in Most Wanted. Autolog puts your friends at the heart of the game.

Check out your friends' records at the start of any event on the "Speedwall" - a leaderboard for every event.

Fairhaven City is full of speed cameras. Rip past any camera, and Autolog displays your friends’ highest recorded speeds through that camera. Just playing races will record fast times, but you can also visit any camera in open play to session it, testing for the fastest route, the fastest car and the fastest Modifcation package for that location.

Every billlboard in Fairhaven City has a Speedwall. Autolog displays it to the left of your screen, whenever you drive close to one. You can see your friends' record jump distances for each and every billboard jump in the game.

Hit the ramp, smash through the billboard and record the longest distance jumped of your friends to reach the top of the Speedwall.

Getting to the top of any Billlboard Speedwall will replace the picture on the billboard with your profile picture. When your friends play the game, they’ll have to put up with your ugly mug beaming down at them and gloating over your fast times.

Whether you're playing an online race, losing the cops in an epic chase or just exploring the streets, Autolog is watching, recording and broadcasting to your friends.  And bringing your friends' records back to you.

The only problem? Deciding what you want to do next.

Australian man breaks gaming marathon record with 135 hours of Black Ops II

Okan Kaya's passion for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is one for the record books.

On Monday, the sales manager at the Sydney-based online retailer 4Cabling set a Guinness World Record for the longest video game marathon ever by playing over 122 135 hours of blockbuster first-person shooter Black Ops II.

That tops the previous record of 120 hours, 7 minutes, which was set earlier this year by a Canadian duo playing Sony's Resistance series.

It took Kaya seven days to reach the 135 hour, 50 minute mark, though he didn't actually play in one long uninterrupted session. According to Guinness rules, players are granted one ten-minute break every hour, and any unspent time is accumulated. By skipping several breaks, Kaya was able to actually catch a little sleep and stay in relatively good spirits.

Unsupervised gaming marathons have, in the past, resulted in tragedies. In July a Taiwanese mancollapsed and died following a 40-hour Diablo III marathon at an internet café. Last year, an American gamer suffered a pulmonary embolism during a 20-hour Xbox session.

Official record-breaking attempts are closely monitored, however, and Kaya was accompanied at all times by a rotating crew of supporters and witnesses. He also exercised and alternated between sitting and standing positions while he played.

And make no mistake: he really played the game. By the end of his epic session, Kaya was ranked 37^thon the Black Ops II leaderboards. The game itself is a record-breaker as well, earning over $500 million in its first 24 hours.

Xbox 720 to offer Kinect 2.0 and Blu-ray drive, says Xbox World

Microsoft's Xbox 720 will unveil a new version of Kinect, a Blu-ray drive, and an A/V port for watching and recording broadcast TV, at least according to details leaked by Xbox World.

First off, the Xbox 720 will introduce Kinect 2.0.

Microsoft has been as publicly mum about the next version of Kinect as it has about all details concerning the new Xbox. But a company document leaked in June touted a higher level of accuracy, stereo imaging, better voice recognition, and the ability to track four players at once.

A Blu-ray drive will also be part of the package, a rumor that's been around for a few years now.

Other features will include directional audio, an input and output for watching and recording TV shows, and an "innovative controller," noted gaming news site ComputerAndVideoGames.com (CVG). Last February, Xbox World said that the redesigned controller would come with a built-in HD touch screen.

Microsoft is also eyeing AR (augmented reality) glasses for the 720 at some future stage.

Codenamed Durango, the new Xbox would be powered by a CPU with "four hardware cores, each divided into four logical cores" and 8GB of RAM.

Dan Dawkins, Xbox World's editor in chief, told CVG that "Xbox World has been at the cutting edge of Durango coverage for over 12 months. Unless something really dramatic changes, everything...will be revealed long before E3 in June."

The 10 biggest game openings of all time

Year after year, a Call of Duty game hits store shelves and within about 24 hours, Activision's PR team is shouting from the rooftops about the series setting a new entertainment industry sales record. The most recent release, Black Ops II, is no exception.

But several other gaming franchises have had blockbuster opening weekends as well, earning more in a one- or five-day period than most games make in their entire lifespan.
Here's a look at the 10 biggest debuts in gaming history.

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (2012)
The newest entry on the list is also the biggest ever (it tends to work that way.) Black Ops II enjoyed the biggest opening the franchise has seen to date, taking in $500 million in its first 24 hours. To put that in perspective, that's more in one day than The Dark Knight Rises made during its entire theatrical run and more than five times as much as the day-one box office take from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two.

2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011)
Last year's Call of Duty started out very, very strong — earning $400 million in the first 24 hours — and topped the $1 billion sales mark in just 16 days. It seemed poised to set a new overall sales record for the franchise, but sales started to slow down in early 2012. The game ultimately fell short of the number Black Ops had set the previous year.

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010)
Before Black Ops, Call of Duty games that weren't made by developer Infinity Ward tended to be overlooked by gamers. Treyarch's Cold War-era take on the series, though, broke that mold by netting $360 million in its first 24 hours. Within five days, the amount had climbed to $650 million. It is, at present, the best selling game in the Call of Duty franchise.

4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
This was the one that really put Call of Duty on the mainstream entertainment radar. Its predecessor, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, had been a big success, but Activision never released worldwide sales numbers. Modern Warfare 2, however, boasted sales of $310 million in its first 24 hours and ratcheted that up to $550 million after five days. After about two months, it topped $1 billion…and the Call of Duty sales juggernaut hasn't slowed down yet.

5. Grand Theft Auto IV (2008)
When Rockstar Games puts out a new GTA game, people come running. This 2008 release boasted day one sales of $310 million and increased that number to $500 million by the end of the first week. That broke the record Halo 3 had set the previous year and destroyed the opening weekend takes of the year's biggest films: The Dark Knight ($153.3 million), Iron Man ($100.8 million) and Wall-E ($62.5 million).

6. Halo 4 (2012)
The return of Master Chief brought a lot of gamers out of the woodwork. Halo 4 sales topped $220 million on the game's first day, which was slightly higher than the opening weekend box office take from this summer's The Avengers. At the time, that made it 2012's biggest game launch, a record it held for exactly one week — until Black Ops II came out.

7. Diablo III (2012)
Fans of Blizzard's click-tastic RPG spent 12 years waiting for this sequel, so it's not shocking that it was a huge seller out of the gate. A PC exclusive, the game sold 3.5 million copies in its first 24 hours (meaning sales of about $210 million). Within a week, it had sold 6.3 million copies, which works out to sales of roughly $378 million. It holds the current record for the fastest-selling PC game ever.

8. Halo Reach (2010)
Bungie's farewell to the Halo franchise recorded sales of $200 million on its first day. Within 16 days, it had increased that haul to $350 million. The numbers were nothing to scoff at, but they were a bit lower than many observers were expecting given the loyalty of Bungie's fan base. It was, if nothing else, a clear signal that gamers were more than ready for Master Chief to make his return.

9. Halo 3 (2007)
The final chapter of Chief's first trilogy was a certified gaming event, and the numbers proved it. In the first 24 hours, the game pocketed sales of $170 million, a $50 million improvement on its predecessor. By the end of the first week, that sales number had climbed to $300 million. And within a little over three months, over 8 million copies of the game had been sold.

Electronic Arts has long relied on the FIFA franchise to boost its earnings, but this year's installment shattered the series' own sales records. Early totals were so-so (at least in the context of this list), with the game selling 1.23 million copies in the first two days. By the end of day five, though, the game had sold 4.5 million copies, putting estimated sales at $270 million

Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster

Though all three home video game consoles sport their own motion detection systems, Microsoft's Kinect is the most flexible, and Once Upon a Monster is among the platform's best active movement games for younger kids.

Developed by Double Fine Productions (seasoned gamers will know them from hits like Brutal Legend and Psychonauts), it brings Sesame Street pals like Elmo and Cookie Monster right into your front room -- and neither you or the kids are going to be able to resist jumping off the couch and joining in the fun.

Nerf Lazer Tag

There's nothing that'll get you moving like being shot at. Hasbro's popular paintball-without-the-mess Nerf range broadens this year to include these nifty Lazer Tag blasters, which in addition to working like traditional lightguns can also mount an iPhone or iPod Touch and use it like a viewfinder.

If you're playing on your own it'll use the display to give you a slew of alien invaders to shoot down -- play it with a friend and it'll instead use it to keep score and track your stats. Whichever you choose, you'll need to be on your toes.

Instep Street Rod Pedal Car

You've seen those battery-operated kids' cars, right? Forget about them. Kids don't need batteries when they've got legs.

The pedal car has been around for decades, though this classic-styled hot-rod is significantly sweeter than the old models. If the style doesn't make your eyes light up (what's wrong with you?) there are ample other choices in shades and designs all across the spectrum, from John Deere green to Barbie hot pink. If you can stretch to a pair, a session spent racing round the back yard or neighborhood park is a recipe for a healthy, happy afternoon.

Just Dance

We're guessing you've probably heard of this celebrated series. One of the few non-Nintendo franchises to really hit it big on the Wii, it owes much of its success to its uncanny ability to get kids of any age (and adults too, for that matter) up off the couch and bobbing about to its sizable selection of pop tunes.

Most of the Just Dance series of games are better for older kids, though the 'Kids' line is good for the younger ones. Just Dance 4 is due out in October.

Hikers take flight when what they thought was a bear resembles Bigfoot

When the black bear you think you're looking at from a safe distance suddenly stands and begins to resemble bigfoot, and that creature stares directly at you, how do you react? The hikers who captured the accompanying footage recently in Utah's Provo Canyon seemed to act appropriately: They bolted through the woods, with the camera still running, to get as far away from the creature as possible. "We ran straight to the car after that, leaving our tent and everything behind. "It's probably all still up there," states Beard Card, the YouTube user who posted the video. This is one of the more realistic Bigfoot escapades in some time. 

Naturally, skeptics are analyzing the video in the hopes of finding an explanation. Yet even healthy cynics are pretty impressed with what they see. They note that the witnesses don't appear to be acting. If they were, the skeptics say, they'd likely be a lot more vocal, and fall into the overacting trap.They also didn't stick around to get a great shot, which also rings of a very natural reaction, but didn't help when it came to capturing a better image. 

Nevertheless, the shot of what clearly looks like the animals big broad arms is extremely compelling, which is why Max Roth of Fox 13 caught up with Beard Card to talk about the incredible encounter. 

Card told Roth how they were standing there for a good chunk of time even before recording what they believed to be a bear at the time, while he was trying to get the camera to work. During their exchange, Card hit on their reaction. Here are a few excerpts.

CARD: "But when it stood up and looked at us--and we assumed it was a bear up to that point--but, when it stood up and looked at us, it was this massive animal. We don't know what it was. I mean, none of us believe in Bigfoot, so...we've talked about it over and over again since Monday when it happened and all of us are positive that thing wasn't a bear." 

ROTH: "You're not a Bigfoot guy? 

CARD: "Nope...none of us have ever believed in that kind of thing." 

ROTH: "So what do you think it was?" 

CARD: "I don't know!...We don't know what it was...I don't know if Bigfoot exist or not but that was a huge animal."

Club Penguin have  updated the homepage of the website to an Operation Blackout design. Herbert is again standing there, as scary as ever, thinking he’s the best bear in the world. Operation Blackout is being advertised everywhere, seeing as it is a very important event in Club Penguin’s history. The homepage also changes images in time, as you can see below.
